In summer the world is far away
You can see as far as you want
And never worry about anything
Summer is a time to spread out
Allow liberty of thought and soul
In winter everything closes in
Like cold travelers huddling for warmth
Perception obtains a vignetted quality
Immediate concerns are highlighted
While others fade into the shadows
The freedom of summer is forgone
For the company of a snowy night
By the fire, cheer abounds
But outside it is cold and dark
Summer leaves a good-bye kiss
And sends you on your way
When you return, comfort and warmth
Greet you in winter’s embrace
Los suspiros son aire y van al aire.
Las lágrimas son agua, y van al mar.
Dime, mujer: cuando el amor se olvida,
¿Sabes tú dónde va?
-Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

The sighs are air and they go to the air
The tears are water and go to the sea.
Tell me, woman: when love is forgotten,
Do you know where to go?
We searched the land for a godless place,
We searched the sea for a friendly face,
We searched the skies for a vice-less race,
And we searched the soul for solace.
We found life in a soil-less place,
We found anger in a loving face,
We found innocence in an ancient race,
And we found strength in the solace.
Subconscious haze
The days of my mind are numbered
Memories flow, nostalgia reigns
Reality ebbs with the tide
and splinters on the rocks
Is it wrong to lose myself
In the subconscious flood?
Can’t I hide my sanity
From the world where it no longer exists?
Magic, music, images
My inner world is brighter
Than that which I see outside
As if through frosted glass
A fog surrounds me
It clouds my senses
Outside this roiling aura
The world is dull and faded
Inside there is loneliness
That is true, and yet
The bright colors offered me
Often make me think
I am happier inside.
Winter Closes In

The Passionate War
The queen is taken
Nations collide
No soul remains
To observe from the side
All-consuming
Becomes the fray
Neutrality, sundered
And left to decay
A horse is given
And warriors duel
Why, oh why
Must war be so cruel
Conflicting passions
Emerge from the mold
These fiery dreams
No truth can hold
Night falls
And so too, despair
The battlefield crumbles
into gross disrepair
So too goes the soul
Which entangles its heart
Such warring passions
Will tear it apart
Los suspiros son aire y van al aire.
Las lágrimas son agua, y van al mar.
